Refund Policy

We want every family to be confident that [PRODUCT_NAME] is right for them. This policy explains when we offer refunds and how to request one. It is part of the Terms of Service.
Free trial
Most paid plans include a [TRIAL_LENGTH, e.g., 14-day] free trial. You can cancel any time during the trial and you will not be charged. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and your payment method is charged for the first billing period.
To cancel, go to Account → Billing → Cancel subscription or email [BILLING_EMAIL].
EU & UK statutory right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a 14-day statutory right to withdraw from a paid subscription without giving a reason. To exercise it, email [BILLING_EMAIL] with your account email and the word "WITHDRAWAL" in the subject.
- If you have not used any paid feature, we will refund 100% of the amount paid within [REFUND_PROCESSING_DAYS, e.g., 14] days.
- If you have started using paid features during the withdrawal period, you accept that your refund may be reduced pro-rata for the portion you have already used. We will explain the calculation in writing.
This right applies to consumers only — not to schools, businesses, or any account where the subscriber has confirmed they are acting in a professional capacity.
Our voluntary refund policy (everywhere)
Beyond the statutory rights above, we offer the following voluntary refunds:
- Monthly plans: within [MONTHLY_REFUND_DAYS, e.g., 7] days of a new charge, on request, we refund the full amount.
- Annual plans: within [ANNUAL_REFUND_DAYS, e.g., 30] days of a new annual renewal, on request, we refund the full amount.
- Pro-rated refunds: outside the windows above, we generally do not refund partial periods. We may make exceptions in genuine hardship, billing error, or extended service failure cases — write to [BILLING_EMAIL] and explain.
- Free accounts: there is nothing to refund. You can delete the account at any time.
When we won't refund
- The subscription has been used beyond what could reasonably be expected if you intended to withdraw (we use moderate judgement here, not a stopwatch)
- The request is filed outside the windows above and no exception applies
- The account violated the Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy and was terminated for cause
- We have already issued a refund in a prior period and a pattern of repeat-refund requests is evident
Refund processing
- Refunds are returned to the original payment method, in the original currency.
- Banks and card networks usually process the refund within [BANK_PROCESSING_DAYS, e.g., 5–10] business days.
- We do not issue cash, store credit, or wire-transfer refunds unless legally required.
Promotions and discounts
Promotional pricing, discount codes, gift subscriptions, and bundled offers may have specific terms posted at the time of the promotion. Where there is a conflict between this policy and the promotion's specific terms, the promotion's terms govern for that purchase, except where superseded by statutory rights.
Chargebacks
If you have a billing issue, please contact us first at [BILLING_EMAIL]. A chargeback initiated without first contacting us can result in account suspension while the chargeback is resolved.
How to request a refund
Email [BILLING_EMAIL] with:
- The email on your account
- The approximate date of the charge
- The reason (optional, but helpful)
We respond within [BILLING_RESPONSE_DAYS, e.g., 3 business days].
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes apply to new subscriptions and to renewals after the change takes effect.
